Unit 5 stillness

Unit 5 stillness
I very much enjoyed the subtle mind exercise better than the loving kindness tape.  This one seemed to help me focus with directions to show me how to accomplish the task at hand.  My only downfall in working with this is getting the others in house to stay quiet or leave so I could concentrate on the exercise.
With some luck I was able to relax my physical body and concentrate on the activity without any worries about what needs my body had at the time.  I did seem to reach a point that I did not use the sequencing of the breathing to keep my mind focused.  It was brief since I was exposed to outside influences.  I shall try again but on the weekend when I can be alone.

  1. Hi there!

It is hard to find that alone time to get these exercises done in a quiet moment, I had that problem too. While this exercise was easier and I liked it better than the loving kindness exercise, it was still difficult for me - I just don't know if I am doing it correctly and the hardest part is that no one can tell you if you are either because its all in your mind!! I get good at focusing on my breath and I need to keep doing that to stay focused so I don't get that relaxed either, but hey i'll keep trying like you.

    Thanks for the posting!

  2. Good Day K

I think most of our class preferred one or the other in terms of Subtle Mind or Loving Kindness meditation exercises.

I am glad you were able benefit from the guided instructions in Subtle Mind sequence.

As with all things subtle the world we live in does not make room for the gentle, sublime or even peaceful. Everything is rush rush hurry hurry. I try to get up before my family and take 5 to 10 minutes to immerse myself in spiritually centering practices like meditation, chi gong or yoga. Good luck in arranging your time for works for you, I enjoyed reading your post. Sa Mut
